MEET THE STAFF
Genevieve Vannest- Founder/Director
Hi there! My name is Genevieve Vannest, and I am so excited to welcome you to The Nest!
A little background about me: my journey in early childhood education started 18 years ago as a volunteer while my own kids were in preschool. That passion grew into a lifelong career as a teacher, director, and administrator across Colorado. Twelve years ago, my husband, Eldon, and I moved our family to Mancos and completely fell in love with this community, the schools, and the mountains. Seeing a big need for quality childcare right here in town, I made it my mission—with the support of family and friends—to create and open The Nest Preschool! \
My husband and I have three amazing boys—Brandon (20), Colten (18), and Jason (16)—so I spend plenty of time in full "sports mom" mode! As a family, we love making the most of the outdoors: boating and camping in the summer, and snowmobiling and skiing in the winter. \
I am so grateful to serve our local families and can't wait to learn, grow, and build wonderful memories with your children!

MEET THE STAFF
Ashaunee Begay-Toddler Assistant Teacher
Hey there, my name is Ashaunee. A little background about myself is I was born in Shiprock, New Mexico, and raised in Colorado since I first started at Teddy Bear Preschool. From that point, I have been in Montezuma County for as long as I can remember. I'm Native American (Navajo) who's a first-time mom to a preschooler, a very huge fan of sports (basketball/volleyball), love spending time with family, and love the outdoors.
Teaching was never the road I anticipated going down; I was leaning toward the medical field and law enforcement. But since I've been with The Nest, everything changed for me. I had the opportunity to meet these wonderful children and their families, being a part of such a wonderful community, and finding something I'm passionate about. Although it's my second year of teaching, I'm still learning the perks of being a teacher and am very excited to see where my career takes me.
